2) Length of Studentship

  • a. According to school regulations, if you exceed the length of studentship, you will not be able to graduate.
  • b. However, you can graduate if you meet all graduation requirements; 『1. Requirements for degree conferment』 after the dean of the graduate school approves your advisor's extension request.

3) Terms of Dissertation Submission

  • a. According to school regulations, if you have exceeded the terms of dissertation submission, you will not be able to submit your dissertation and graduate. In that case, your academic status will be "final completion" (or "ABD": All But Dissertation).

  • c. Terms of dissertation submission include period of leave of absence.

4) Thesis Application and Proposal Guideline

Procedure for Thesis Advisor Application and Assignment

  • a. After being informed about the assigned thesis advisor, each student should meet and receive approval from the thesis advisor recommended and should submit the 'Thesis Advisor Application Form' to the International affairs office (2nd floor Seoul campus).
  • b. Please note that students WILL NOT be able to apply for a thesis track after the 3rd semester as of 2025 spring semester onwards.
  • c. Students who are planning to graduate with thesis track should present and defend their research proposal in their 3rd semester (Masters) and 4th semester (Ph. D) and should also take 'Research Methodology' class till the 3rd semester. The main purpose of taking research methods class is to prepare students about writing thesis properly.
  • d. Upon Defending the Thesis proposal, your thesis advisor will give you 'Research REMARKS' which is normally given by 'S'(Satisfactory), 'U'(Unsatisfactory), 'I'(Incomplete) and students should receive 'S' in order to continue as a research track student. On the other hand 'U'(Unsatisfactory) will automatically revert you to the non-thesis Track and as a result you need to complete 2 additional courses for your graduation (for Masters students).
  • e. Please note that this Research Remarks form must be submitted again at the office to continue as a thesis track student, failure to do so, will revert you again to non-thesis.
  • f. If students receive "I", students should consult with their thesis advisor to correct proposal within one month in order to change your final grade from "I" to "S".
